Hey there! This is my landing page showcasing how I built marketing material and B2B pitches for a startup called In Stock in 30 days. Take a look at my process!

How it began:

I have past marketing experience from working at a fitness club. I designed ads, fliers, and established business partnerships, but I was limited in my knowledge of how to market effectively. I set out to hone in on my marketing skills, so I went looking for startups that could use a boost.

That’s when I came across In Stock.

In Stock is your localized version of Amazon. Their website allows you to find name-brand products you love in your area. You can choose to pick it up in-store or have it delivered to your house on the same day. Blows 2-day shipping out of the water, right?

I saw they didn’t have much of a presence on social media, so I definitely wanted to make some ads to get attention. I also noticed that they aren’t in too many stores outside of Santa Cruz, CA, so I decided to make scripts for B2B pitches.

Here’s What I accomplished In:

Week 1:

Using Trello, I made a task management system to organize my goals. It was important to set specific goals for each week to make sure I was on schedule to complete the project within the 4 weeks.

Before creating ads, I decided to do some research on what makes them effective. I wanted to include elements that would really make them stand out so In Stock’s customer numbers would skyrocket.

Week 2:

I learned how to use Canva to create social media ads and incorporated what I learned about successful ads into my creations. I made a How-To blog post on how to use Canva because I found it to be a free, useful platform for any startup.

I also made a blog post explaining how I came up with each ad. I went on to explain the purpose of each element in each of my ads.

Week 3:

The next step was moving on to creating business partnerships. Just like the ads, I did research on effective B2B marketing. After documenting my findings, I used Google Maps and Hunter.io to create leads to launch pitches to.

Week 4:

The final week was about wrapping it all together. I created the pitch proposals while incorporating elements that I learned out in my research. Then I used Hubspot to set up a formal launch of the emails to the lead list I created.

Tech Tools I Utilized:

  1. Canva
  2. Trello
  3. Hubspot
  4. Hunter.io
  5. Google Maps

How it All Came Together:

By the end of the week, I ended up with 4 ads, 3 email pitches, and a rough lead list for In Stock. I’m really excited about what In Stock is building, so I’m going to use my project to try and open a door with them. I’ll be using it as part of a pitch to them so stay tuned for more updates!.

My biggest takeaway from this project is that marketing isn’t about being creatively true to one’s self, but being true to what is effective.

Living in our ever-changing, fast-paced digital world, marketing goals need to be reached quickly and effectively and be flexible enough to adapt to the changing demands.

I really enjoyed increasing my marketing knowledge and I am stoked about continuing on my journey to learn more.

What I Should Have Done Differently:

I did have a few setbacks when I initially started out on my project. I had some health issues come up that took time away from what my goals originally were.

There were also unforeseen challenges when it came to learning Hubspot that pushed me further back than I would have liked.

Moving forward, I will schedule my time in a way that would allow me to still reach all of my goals even if circumstances change.

Where Am I Going Next?

I’m going to continue on my journey to increase my marketing knowledge. I want to learn even more about what it takes to become an effective marketer.

My goal for the next month is to gain more real-world experience and get caught up to speed on all the latest and greatest marketing developments. I want to create an entire marketing campaign from start to finish and be able to see direct results in conversations, clicks, and sales.

Continue to follow my journey by following me on my blog and connect with me on the platforms below to watch me grow!
